Cactus League Opener: Brewers 7, A's 1
The 2008 Milwaukee Brewers opened their Cactus League season on a positive note, besting Oakland, 7-1. The Brewers' tagged Oakland starter Joe Blanton for 6 runs, all earned, in the first two innings and, while not meaningful, it is certainly nice to see the Brewers get hits and runs off a guy that will be in the majors this year.
The Crew collected 6 extra base hits--a HR by Ryan Braun, and 5 doubles...including one by Matt LaPorta.
The pitching staff gave up 10 hits to the A's, including 3 off of Brewers' starter Claudio Vargas.
